Hi!
I'm a Italian boy who studies "Medicine & Surgery Course" in Bari's University (in Italy). I'm interesting in the transfer from the Italian university to the Nancy's one but i have some questions:
1) the Italian Medicine & Surgery Course lasts 6 years, subdivided in the first 3 years (the pre-clinical period) with the teaching of the bases of medicine (histology, embriology, citology, anatomy, chemical,
physiology, biochemistry, etc...) and the last 3 years (the clinical period) with the teaching (in theory...) of the practical side of Medicine. In Italy, for becoming a student of the Medicine & Surgery Course of any university, it must exceed an National Income Test (why this course is to programmed number). I think to end my second year until July 2008 and try to transfer in Your university and here there is my doubts: if the transfer succeeds, what program I can studied? In
the end of the second year, we must have given these exams: all Chemical and Biochemistry, all Medical Physics, all Biology and General Genetic, Histology, Embriology and Human Genetic, General and Clinical Psycology, all Anatomy, Scientific English I, Computer Science, Medical Statistics I, Human Physiology I and more courses as Human Ethic, Medicine's History, Relationship Doctor-Patient and another "small" courses;
2) How much they pile the university taxes? (in Italy, they are tied to the yield and the average university)
3) How much distant Nancy from Saint Diè? There are good transport?

I hope, You help me (

Sorry for my ugly english but before I come in French, I'll studied French language

Thanks for the attention and the patience

Hello !!

Firstly, excuse me for my English... very hesitant !

Then, welcome to Nancy and our university, if you come here

1. In France, there are 6 years of common studies, at the faculty (the first year end with the competitive examination, very difficult - the second and third (called "P2" and "D1", pre-clinical period) consist of theoretical lectures, like anatomy, physiology, histology, semiology, ... - after this, you become a non-resident student at a teaching hospital : shared between the faculty (theoretical), and the hospital, pratical), and then there are 3 additional years to become a generalist, 4 years to become a medical specialist, and 5 for surgical specialities. (when you are intern, "houseman").

So, if you come to Nancy at the end of your second year, apparently it'll be quite easy, because the programm you studie and the program we studie is almost the same : Chemical and Biochemistry, Medical Physics, Biology and General Genetic, Histology, Embriology and Human Genetic, General and Clinical Psycology, Anatomy, Computer Science, Medical Statistics I, Human Physiology, Human Ethic, Medicine's History, Relationship Doctor-Patient : that is the program of the first and second years.
But here we start to learn Semiology : the basis of cariology, pneumology, etc etc... so I advise you to start learning that.

2. Concerning the university taxes, I'm sorry but I don't remember

3. Saint Dié is in the Vosges, and I don't know this part of France
But I know there are trains between the two.
So, if you want to go to St Dié during the week-end, it's possible - but it's quite a long way from Nancy all the same, so I think it's impossible to live in St Dié and do the outward / return trip all the days.

Hum... if you have others questions, don't hesit to ask them We'll try to answer

And once again, excuse me for my bad english... I understand it but it's very difficult for me to speak !!

Good bye and good luck !

Buona fortuna a te e a presto a Nancy !

As Serautonyn said, I think it'll be very difficult for you to reconcile the medical studies and a job, cause it's very time-consuming...
Moreover, living in St Dié and studying in Nancy will be very difficult to... But you can rent out a flat in Nancy.

Concerning the hospital courses, they begin in the 4° year, but you can go to the hospital before if you want.

So, good luck !!
